Yahoo Ups Storage Ante to 1 Gig Email Expansion

Yahoo Ups Storage Ante to 1 Gig Email Expansion: Yahoo is expanding storage capacity for its free email accounts to 1GB. The move allows Yahoo users to accommodate large email attachments such as photos in their webmail.

Yahoo has gradually increased its email capacity several times during the last year, this time raising the storage limit from 250MB. Yahoo will also upgrade the antivirus capabilities offered through its free accounts by providing software from Symantec. Previously only paid subscribers benefited from the service. Yahoo Mail Plus, at $19.95 per year, offers 2GB and other options not available to free users.

The upgrade will be available to users worldwide from April.

Yahoo buys my favorite Flickr Beta, it's not your grandfather's photo sharing site.

Yahoo desktop search reaches beyond the PC -
Yahoo is expected to launch on Wednesday the first upgrade to its desktop search tool, adding the ability to index data from Yahoo's instant messenger archives stored on users' PCs and from users' address books residing on Yahoo's servers.
